After awhile in the new land, the Israelites are ready to have a king/monarchy. While Joshua and the judges after him took turns leading, the people want a "stable" monarchy. This is a good reminder of the stability that rules provide, and yet how the rule-makers can often make the rules benefit themselves and their friends. How do we know if a rule is "of God"?
