With no temple or palace or castle, the Israelites must now find a place for God. While we have sanctuaries, and places that make a church, they were starting from scratch. What do you think we need to be able to have a church service? Right now we're using computer screens. God's people can always find a way to worship. The second video is a song to go along with today's story.
*Read along in Whirl Kids Story Bible pages 66-81- while it's not a direct link, here's stories of what happened while the people were still keeping the ark in a tent.
Youth/Students
Where do you keep precious things? Can you list your top ten items, and where you keep them? How about your family? Is there anything you have that you'd want a great-grandchild to have of yours? Is there anything that you have that reminds you of God and your spirituality on a daily basis?
Parents/Adults
"From Ugliness, A Beauty Emerges" (Chpt. 11 in We Make the Road by Walking), is not a direct link to this story of a tent. (McLaren simply cannot cover everything condensing 780,000+ words in less than 300 pages.) However, this chapter leads right into the next one for tomorrow, and fills in the gap of Joshua's conquest and settlement. In MS and HS we'll talk about this topic often, especially in light of the Manifest Destiny in the US. Here's a link I use regularly when discussin the Book of Joshua with churches in the USA.
