Abram and Sarai

March 26

Children

This story is a bit longer than most.  If you want to watch half now and half later, than please do so!  Family is an ongoing part of the Bible, and especially for most of Genesis.  You can spend sometime sharing where your family came from, and all the places they lived.

*You can also follow along in a Story Bible.  pgs. 14-17 in The Whirl Story Book Bible, and you can read more of Abe and Sarah's family through pg. 45.

Students/Youth

In this video a Jewish teacher compares Job and Abe's approach to hospitality.  Today, during this pandemic, what are ways we can safely care for each other and be hospitable?

Parents/Adults

"Plotting Goodness" (Chapter 6 in 'We Make the Road by Walking') deals with being "chosen by God" and challenges the notion that we are "chosen" to be more special.   Instead, McLaren claims we are chosen to be a blessing and to be blessed by others.  There is no pyramid of being more special and powerful than others.  Just the simple calling to assimilate into each others lives.  "God loves everyone, everywhere, no exceptions" (pg. 25).

*You can also read chapters 7 and 8 (about Isaac and Joseph) to keep up with the children's curriculum that jumps to Exodus next.
